Welcome to the Centre for Human Factors and Sociotechnical Systems

Welcome to the Centre for Human Factors and Sociotechnical System’s new website!

Formerly known as USCAR (University of the Sunshine Coast Accident Research) the Centre for HF and STS was officially established at the University of the Sunshine Coast in 2015 with the aim of developing a leading capability in research designed to optimise performance and safety in complex sociotechnical systems.

Our innovative and rigorous research addresses critical issues within work and social systems and involves the application and extension of Human Factors and Sociotechnical Systems theory. The ultimate aim is to support individuals, communities, governments and industry to optimise practice, performance and safety.

Please take a look around our new website. You can find details of the Centre’s key researchers, current projects, publications, our HDR programresearch tools, and research partners.

If you need any further details or wish to contact any of our members regarding publications, HDR studies, or potential projects, please do not hesitate to get in touch via the contact details listed on our contacts page.

We will be writing weekly blogs relating to all things Human Factors, Sociotechnical Systems, and Safety so please remember to drop by regularly.
