Mitch Naughton

Mitch joined University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) in 2020 to study a PhD in Sport and Exercise Science. Mitch completed his Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science and Master of Science (by Research) at UniSC investigating muscle damage and recovery in rugby athletes. Between completion of the Master’s degree and undertaking his PhD, Mitch has worked in academic and applied industry roles within sport internationally for the past 5 years. Mitch’s PhD work involves using Systems Thinking methods to explore how fatigue and recovery are monitored, and other aspects of the workload to fatigue relationship.

Mitch joined the Centre in 2021 as a Research Assistant, on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) research grant titled Optimising Anti-Doping Control Systems in Football Codes in Australia.  This research will identify opportunities to strengthen the current system of doping controls in elite football in Australia.

This role provides high level administrative and research support to the Research Fellow and project team.
