Sarah-Louise has worked and studied in the field of human factors, safety and risk management since 2002 with experience across a range of safety critical industries including the defence, aviation, oil & gas and mining sectors. Her main areas of expertise and interest include the application of methods and approaches with a basis in systems theory to enhance safety in complex sociotechnical systems.
The inaugural recipient of the Thomas Triggs Memorial Scholarship, Sarah-Louise is currently completing her PhD at Monash University and is co-supervised by Paul Salmon. Her research is focused on applying systems-based approaches to the examination of safety leadership in high-risk industries, to better understand the positive influence across work systems to support improved safety performance. Having experience in both the research and practitioner space, she is interested in how to translate the human factors research outcomes from her studies into real world practice to enhance safety in high-risk industries.
