Tania Stevenson

A systems thinking approach to improving performance pathways in Australian Athletics

Tania is a PhD candidate with the Centre for Human Factors and Systems Science investigating the use of systems thinking approaches to improve athlete recruitment, retention and progression within the performance pathway for Australian Athletics.

Tania’s research is supervised by Professor Paul Salmon. Tania has previously completed a Bachelor of Behavioural Science (La Trobe University), a Graduate Diploma of Education (Queensland University of Technology) and a Post Graduate Certificate in High Performance Sport (Leadership) (Australian Catholic University). Since 2017 she has coordinated the High Performance Student Athlete Program at the University of the Sunshine Coast, supporting elite athletes to successfully balance a dual career while competing at the elite level.

She is the national university representative on the Australian Institute of Sport Elite Athlete Education Network Reference Group and a Board Director for Sunshine Coast Sports. Tania has a strong interest in both elite athlete wellbeing and sport for development and has delivered several grant funded projects in these areas.
